Are Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger still friends?

It sure seems like it! Danny Devito recently sat down with his old co-star for a conversation that was published with Interview magazine in June 2023. It’s as wonderful and endearing as you might imagine, especially considering the Twins co-stars did not talk about their experience on Twins or about movies much at all. But they did talk about Arnold’s upbringing in Austria, what kind of music they enjoy listening to, and about seeing each other at Coachella, which DeVito apparently does not remember at all.

DEVITO: I go down to the Coachella.

SCHWARZENEGGER: Coachella, exactly. I see you hanging out there and dancing around.

DEVITO: Have you been?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Of course. We saw each other down there. I went with my son, Patrick, and my daughter. You recommended it to me.

However, eventually the repartee between the two pals got downright existential and philosophical once they began discussing the future of humans. And the exchange gets oddly affectionate and warm and sweet and loving. See for yourself!

DEVITO: We deteriorate.

SCHWARZENEGGER: Except in some fantasy. When people talk about, “I will see them again in heaven,” it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part. I know people feel comfortable with death, but I don’t.

DEVITO: No.

SCHWARZENEGGER: Because I will fucking miss the shit out of everything. To sit with you here, that will one day be gone?

DEVITO: No!

SCHWARZENEGGER: And to have fun and to go to the gym and to pump up, to ride my bike on the beach, to travel around, to see interesting things all over the world. What the fuck?

DEVITO: Life! It’s the best!

SCHWARZENEGGER: Exactly. What’s that all about?
